It’s been a long time coming, but the trailer for Del Toro’s blockbuster title Pacific Rim has finally hit the internet and I am far from disappointed. The concept of the movie has humanity turning to piloted giant robots to fight off an aliens… I mean where can that go wrong? Did you hear that eerily creepy computer voice in the background? Sound familiar? That’s none other than Ellen McLain, the voice of GLaDOS from the Portal franchise, who gives her voice talent to what I can only assume is an AI. That may be the weirdest typecasting I have ever seen. What do you think of the first trailer for Pacific Rim?

I thought I’d need to wait for Christmas to catch a glimpse of footage for the Star Trek sequel… or watch Conan… but it hit the web today and it is absolutely amazing. It definitely focuses on the destruction that Sherlock brings to the federation. I can’t wait for more movie clips.  This will be the last glimpse we see of Star Trek till later it debuts with the Hobbit in select IMAX theaters. What did you think of the teaser trailer? Ever wonder what happened to Bane at the end of The Dark Knight? Well, this deleted scene continues the Bat Breaker’s story

Okay, so it’s not a ‘deleted scene,’ but it is a pretty awesome and fun fan video made by two Sudbury locals, David Woodley, , who really got into the Bat-spirit (I’m a firm believer that you can put Bat in front of anything and make it cool). I think it’s nice that Bane can let loose and have some fun, but the marshmallow thing was just cruel. Be sure to check out Ryan’s YouTube page here.

  • A new Man of Steel poster has hit the web featuring Superman in a set of handcuffs being escorted by soldiers of some sort. Well, unless there’s Kryptonite, I don’t think ol’ Kent would let himself be captured unless he wanted to. In fairness, he’s done this a handful of times in comics.
  • On the topic of The Man of Steel, it’s been rumoured that this movie will be setting up the Justice League franchise. Furthermore, there’s already some some firm guesses as to the movie’s main villain. Darksied is already getting the geek world’s support for the spot and the rumours aren’t subsiding any time soon. It does make sense that he would be the choice as DC’s New 52 run did start with the JLA facing off against him in the first couple of issues. The estimated release date is 2015, however I’m not holding my breath.
  • Jamie Foxx, after much talk about him being attached to the new Spider-Man film, has been confirmed by an interview with Entertainment Tonight as playing Electro. To be honest, I’m a little surprised that they’re breaking out some of the classic villains for this one after Rami’s flop with Sandman in Spider-Man 3. I am really looking forward to how the character will be portrayed in this darker universe they seem to be setting up.
  • While we have only seen a few viral videos of Guillermo Del Toro’s mech vs. monster film Pacific Rim, a sequel has already got the go ahead. There’s been a whole helluva lot of hype around this film and I’m not one to knock any movie that has giant mechs in in. It’s why I’m still a fan of The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.  I’m looking forward to the trailer hitting the net next week. (via CinemaBlend)
  • Joss Whedon apparently has a timeline for The Avengers 2 finished up. This incorporates all the new Marvel movies coming out in 2013 and beyond. I’m pretty impressed that it’s mapped out so early. Joss has already promised an epic story, and given the cast he has to work with it would be foolish to believe anything differently. You can get your next silver screen Avenger’s fix in May of 2015.

I was surprised when Harry Osborn didn’t appear in any capacity in The Amazing Spider-Man, but with a sequel already in the works it was just a matter of time before this info was announced. Looks like they cast a super villain as a future villain with Chronicle’s star Dane Dehaan. Here’s the official statement:

Chronicle” star Dane DeHaan has been cast as bad boy Harry Osborn in Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” director Marc Webb confirmed on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

DeHaan, who takes over the role played by James Franco in Sam Raimi’s original trilogy, joins returning stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, as well as fellow franchise newcomers Shailene Woodley and Jamie Foxx, latter of whom will play villain Electro.

Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the sequel, which is skedded to swing into theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Script will be credited to Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as well as Jeff Pinkner, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt.

DeHaan is no stranger to playing mischievous teens, having co-starred in John Hillcoat’s bootlegging pic “Lawless” and Fox’s “Chronicle,” which grossed a surprise $126 million worldwide.

The thesp can currently be glimpsed in Steven Spileberg’s “Lincoln,” and next stars in Derek Cianfrance’s crime drama “The Place Beyond the Pines,” which Focus Features acquired at Toronto. Thesp has also wrapped the West Memphis 3 pic “Devil’s Knot” and the period thriller “Kill Your Darlings,” which will premiere in competition at the Sundance Film Festival.

What do you think of their pick for lil’ Goblin? He’s definitely showed himself to be quite an actor in Chronicle. Leave your comments below.

I don’t think video games have gotten much justice when it comes to movie adaptations and I don’t think they ever will. I know that, you know that, Uwe Boll thrives on it, but when will Hollywood learn? Apparently Sony gave this project the green light earlier this year. This is the first I am hearing about it.
The movie looks like a generic World Waar 2 movie about a company of soldiers stuck behind enemy lines during the Battle of Bulge who have to stop a Nazi super weapon. Company of Heroes stars Tom Sizemore (Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan), Chad Collins (Lake Placid 2, Sniper Reloaded), Vinnie Jones (The Tomb, Snatch), Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger, Band of Brothers) and Jürgen Prochnow (The Da Vinci Code, Das Boot). You can find this movie on Blu-ray March 2013.

The release date for Star Trek Into Darkness (AKA Star Trek 2: Sherlock vs. Kirk) may be a whiles off in the distant land of May 2013, but this teaser poster can do nothing but inspire a nerdy glee from even the staunchest of fans. While some people have pointed out the similarities between this poster and the one for The Dark Knight Rises, I just will say it looks badass and I can’t wait till we get a trailer out of this. Christmas maybe? How about it Paramount?

What would you think of this monstrosity of a warmech walking down the street popping a cap in any and all jaywalkers?  This is the newest conceptualization of ED-209, the villain from the 1987 Robocop and the expected foe in the reboot of Robocop coming out early 2014.  While the release date is still a fair distance away the viral marketing has already begun with the launch of the OmniCorp company website.

RoboCop will star Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley.

It would appear that the Daniel Craig Bond movies have really seperated fans of the 007 series down the middle of whether they like the new movies or not. Personally I’m a fan of them and the semi-realism approach they have given the series in regards to invisible cars and space lasers. This new movie, Skyfall, has the entirety of MI-6 fall to ruins leaving Bond, thought to be dead, the last agent standing. Now it’s up to him to get back into the game and find out who is responsible for the deed and bring them to justice (that usually means a bullet to the head). Judi Dench returns as M and Ben Whishaw will play the role the series favourite inventor Q.  Who knows what sort of new gadgets Bond will have at his disposal. You can find Skyfall in theaters November 9th.

Valve released the Source Film Maker to the public a few weeks ago, and the speed at which people have made remakes of their favourite scenes from TV and movies has been astounding. The only thing is not all of them have been the greatest (there’s been a few flops… and by a few I mean somewhere between a lot and a metric tonne of awful), but the good ones are pretty damn awesome. This scene, taken from the Matrix, recreates the Morpheus rescue scene spot on. Have you tried out the Source Film Maker? Any videos that stand above the rest? Some that are just god awful? Tell us in the comments.

The hype for Christopher Nolan final installment in his Batman trilogy is massive. There’s been so much speculation as to what the story is going to entail and to who are and what their roles will be. This featurette gives more of an insight into some of those burning questions fans around the world have had as well as all the locations the movie was shot. This is an incredibly captivating feature and a definite watch for any Noaln fans out there (ie. everyone).
