Lately, I must admit, we have been cheating a little with the webcomics we’ve been choosing to review. The random, non-storyline based ones have been catering to both our laziness and our ridiculously busy schedules. Yes, we have lives OUTSIDE of you people. Imagine that. And so, this being the case once more, my “fearful” leader and I decide on a cop-out.
A life? That’s what you’re calling what you do before and after reviews? Oh, how times have changed. But for the sake of getting this review on the go I’m simply just going to nod my head and say nothing to the contrary.
Well…I would have a life if you didn’t keep me chained to this damned desk… Anyway, our favored cop-out this week is:
Cyanide and Happiness by Explosm.net

A random webcomic about stick figures getting into all kinds of mischief and mayhem. Sometimes crude, sometimes funny, sometimes gory, sometimes all the things.

Jess: Cyanide and Happiness is a neat concept. It doesn’t care for boundaries and does its own thing however it wants, touching on any and every subject. A lot of the time it is quite funny; however I do find that it can be a little too crude and obnoxious for my tastes. But that’s just my humble opinion.
Paul: Like Jess said, Cyanide and Happiness has a lot of funny moments, but with features like depression week (not going to go into detail on this one, Google it at your own peril. Bring tissues) it really does tarnish the rest of the comic. There is a point where you go a touch too far with the jokes and unfortunately that’s where CaH lands.

Final Verdict
Jess: I give this comic 2.5 inappropriate, badly-timed joke pencils out of 5. Half the time it’s funny, half the time..it’s…just offensive.
Paul: I give this comic 3 out of 5 you-will-probably-hate-yourself-for-laughing-at-this pencils. It is a big webcomic, it’s just not for me.

Cyanide and Happiness is a pretty big webcomic on the interwebs, but it’s just not for us. Even as far as random comics go, it’s a little too left field. However, that’s just our take on it. Check out Cyanide and Happiness for yourself and tell us what you think of it in the comments or sends us a tweet at @HBHT #B4W. Anyways, next week we’ll return again with a webcomic that has a little bit more storyline and a little less randomness. Meanwhile I’m going to let Jess get back to this “life” thing she keeps going on about. Until next time, stay classy internet.
